O.K., varmints!  Hoot Als' moved up North to sub-tropical Michigan and got himself a website up there.  Open up http://www.hootalrifleshop.org and see what's cookin' at his place.  He uses the Golden Means Proportion and builds some dern good shooters besides being just plain good looking.  Ask one of them Southern boys who's got one.  You'll have a hard time beatin' it.  He's my best friend and if that ain't enough reason to go check out his site, go shoot an inline.

Here is my friend Ken Guy's new website: www.tennesseehogrifle.com .  If you are interested in Tennessee guns, check it out.  Packdog does a whole passel of work by hand making those fine Southern creations of his, truly one of a kind.  If you're looking for a good hog rifle, contact Ken and get something worked out.  He's a popular builder and his schedule is getting booked up, so don't procrastinate!

Mike Miller down Paducah, Kentucky way is one super nice guy and a most wonderful craftsman.  Reckon he's another up and coming John Bivins or Wallace Gussler, as he's that good.  I am proud to know him and call him friend.  Working with Mike has revealed a great sense of humor and lawsy, we share the same birthday!  You've read about him in publications and seen him in instructional videos from APV.  Now he has his own website.  Do check out: www.millerlongrifles.com . His guns are truly works of art, so if you're looking for a historically accurate, superbly functioning, and very beautiful firearm, look Mike up.

www.americanpioneervideo.com/  This site has gun buildin', trekkin', an' blacksmithin' (to name a few topics) instructional videos and DVDs that'll have you droolin' an' slaverin' all over.  My friend, Jim Wright, another one of us ex-military chopper pilots, just happens to be the Grandaddy of the instructional video makers & purveyors.  His films feature renowned artisans such as Hershel House, Wallace Gussler, an' young Mike Miller outta Paducah, Kentucky.  Soon, th' Good Lord willin' an' th' crik don't rise, mebbe I'll git to join those prestigious ranks an'  just like in th' old Buck Owens song: hope you come to see me in the movies.  Check Jim's site out an' see fer yerself.  INRI

www.horstguns.com has what you're looking for and then some!  Honest to goodness French flints are just laying around John Horst's shop in droves, just beggin' to come to your house for a visit!  John's a super good guy and his shop has guns, accessories, (even iron pyrites are available) and more.  There's a section on his web site dedicated to some of our military heroes that you ought to read, complete with photos.  Do yourself a favor and scope this site out and add it to your favorites.  I personally recommend the pyrites.  They really make my Dutch wheelie talk.  "Good stuff, Maynard!"  Tell'im Bookie sent you.

Here is another Southern Mountain Rifle site you may want to check out.   Eitnier Rifles at www.geocities.com/ike47949/  is owned and operated by Jerry Eitnier.

One of my very best friends lives in Denmark.  He was also my L-O-N-G distance apprentice and now journeyman......and you're gonna like'im!  Henrik Jørgen Elmer is an avid black powder enthusiast and a very capable gunsmith in his own right.  There's been some handsome muzzleloaders built in his shop on the island of Lolland and he's put up a personal web page to record the process of a longrifle under construction.  You'll find it located at: www.falsterske.dk/henrik.htm .  Besides being the head of the Danish national organization, Danske Sortkrudtsskytter, (that translates into the Danish Black Powder Shooters, the equivalent of our NMLRA) www.sortkrudt.dk ,  he's also the foreman of the local shooting club De Falsterske Sortkrudtsskytter  and they have a great site. Try http://www.falsterske.dk . This site also has an English language page.  It ain't the Sgt. York shoot, but they are having a swell time.  I know.  I been there!   Just for your information, Denmark furnished one of our heroes of the Alamo - Lt. Charles Zanco!  He's the fellow who put the star on the Texas flag!

This site is in Norway.  It is bi-lingual and it follows the progress of a rifle that I built for hr. Øyvind Flatnes.  This dude is cool!!  He ain't afraid to put that rifle through it's paces.  The site is quite extensive and covers his many interests.  So if you are ex-military, a rock 'n roller or black powder enthusiast, there is something for you all.  There is even a couple of my short videos for your enjoyment.   Check out his Viking bow, too!  Take a look at: www.svartkrutt.net .
