Apprentices, Alumni, and Journeymen

These "gentlemen" ( read "igits") journeymen work in the shop from time to time and make themselves a nuisance in general.  But I cain't complain as they are as insane as I am!!  Al Neubauer has his own shop and makes some fine looking rifles of his own.  Don Fulkerson (center photo) joins "Hoot Al" Neubauer as the newest journeyman here in Corn Patch, Iowa and shows off one of his recent rifles.  Don is fond of making brass locks, so take a look at his handy-work!  The late Steve Hollenbeck, filer, is in the third.  Henrik Elmer of Bandholm, Lolland, Denmark, is an extension of this shop and  is the newest Toad Hall Rifleshop Journeyman.   Next, Don and I are drilling out a rifle barrel on my wooden 4 foot drill and reamer. We use hog lard, olive, peanut, or corn oil for lubricant. Sometimes just plain ol' used motor oil works best.   It sure is a cracker jack and works very, very well!!     Click on the pics for a more detailed view.

 Official Toad Hall Rifleshop Alumni

These fellers have underwent some intensive gun smithing training in some facet here at Toad Hall.  They are now considered to be alumni of this little shop and they've all become good friends.  Allow me to present to you:  Dr. Andrey Lebed originally from Moscow, Russia, Dan Land of Auburn, Alabama, Jim Sichlau of Rochester, Illinois, Tim Crowe from Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Ken Guy of Signal Mountain, Tennessee.  All fine, capable, and dedicated gentlemen.
