YOUNG
MEMBERS GROUP
The start-up meeting for the Redeemer Young Members Group met June 6 at the church. There were 18 people that came and enjoyed pizza. Suggestions for future activities were given. Some were bowling, a night at the Y in Creston, putt-putt golf, picnic & volleyball at Lake Icaria, ballgame in Des Moines or Omaha. It was decided to have a picnic with volleyball at Lake Icaria June 27 right after church (noon). Hot dogs, buns, drinks and table service will be provided. Anyone wishing to join us is asked to bring a covered dish or dessert. John Harderson is going to check on ballgame dates in Des Moines and Omaha and will bring that information to the picnic. Please join us June 27 at Lake Icaria for a day of fun. Let's get the ball rolling for the young members of Redeemer and Trinity Lutheran Churches. REDEEHER CARES Redeemer Cares was called to order by Maggie with 9 members present. Merle reported that the Helping Hands project with Adams-Montgomery went well with three members from Adams County present. The Adams County project took l0 hours. Maggie suggested we investigate the small cemetery at Lake Binder as possibly being a project that we could do. She is going to talk to someone about it. Chuck reported we are netting about $20.00 every 5th Sunday. He reported that our kitchen fund is at about $2000. Another fund raiser was discussed and Darell is to ask if an October one could be held prior to Voters meeting. Also it was discussed that maybe we could sell home made ice cream after church some Sunday. Darrell volunteered to look into how much we the supplier would want. Or if he would be interested. Lois made a motion we pay Pat for the confirmation cake and that we make it an annual project with us paying for it and LWML doing the serving. Several options for an annual trip were discussed and we are going to see if Creston would like to join us on the trip. The meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m. on June 6, 2004. Secretary Marcia Cerven. |
