Mary Magdalene, Apostle

Welcome

Sometimes called "the apostle to the apostles" because she told them of her encounter with the risen Lord, Mary Magdalene was a woman of Galilee who followed Jesus throughout his ministry. She was present at Jesus' crucifixion and his burial.  Today we remember her with thanksgiving and recall other women of faith who by their actions and words gave witness to God's powerful new life.

Parents Make the Difference – Celebrate National Parents’ Day July 22

A parent has many jobs: mentor, support system, nurturer, provider and teacher. All of these and so much more are important in the development of a child. However, not all parents are prepared for this responsibility. For this reason, Lutheran Services in Iowa provides early childhood and family programs to help parents and children.

LSI’s Families Together program works to preserve the family as the central support system for children by empowering parents to be the best teachers, mentors, and role models. The Healthy Opportunities to Experience Success, or HOPES, program assists parents in giving their children a healthy start in life. Goals include promoting positive parenting, improving child health and development and preventing child abuse and neglect.

Every child deserves to have a parent to look up to. LSI helps parents gain the skills they need to be that person.

Update on Stained Glass Windows

The two big windows in the Sanctuary look great.  Now it is time to consider protecting and restoring our other stained glass windows.  We have 18 windows that need to be restored, cleaned and new storms installed.  The total renovation will cost around $29,000.  Obviously that is costly, however if we could repair 5 or 6 this year and keep working on them it would be advisable.  The Property Committee hopes to continue the project.  To work on six of the windows that need immediate repair will cost approximately $12,000.  Any suggestions can be channeled to the Property Committee and the Church Council.
