Greeters: Violate Poindexter, Dorothy Swanson Flowers: Betty Richter
You are welcome to join in the fellowship in the church dining hall following worship. Thanks to Kathy Kalmoe and Katie Anderson for serving as hostesses.
Today the church commemorates two translators who made hymns accessible to English-speaking worshipers: Catherine Winkworth, who died on this day in 1878 and who translated many German texts; and John Mason Neale, who translated ancient Greek and Latin hymns. Almost all English-speaking hymnals include many of their translations. Often treasures from the past can open God's people to the future.
