Third Sunday of Easter
Welcome
Resurrection also means reconciliation. In today's gospel, Peter's denials are trumped by a threefold commissioning from Jesus. We, too, are reconciled to one another and to God as we join in the hymn of all creation with angels and archangels and all the company of heaven: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!"

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
During her youth, Caroline was raised in an abusive household. Her mother was an alcoholic who verbally assaulted her on a daily basis. Her father was a drug addict and would come home and beat his wife as Caroline watched – and would occasionally leave Caroline her own bruises. As she grew older she found herself becoming engaged in relationships with men that held these same characteristics. During one of her relationships, Caroline found herself pregnant. - Imagine the environment Caroline’s child will be raised in.
This situation occurs every day throughout our nation and our communities. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize the impact abuse can have on the life of a child. Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) offers many educational and treatment programs to overcome the emotional and behavioral effects of abuse. Our residential centers provide a safe environment for children of abuse to grow spiritually and learn to succeed in life. LSI’s Healthy Opportunities to Experience Success (HOPES) program is a family education and intervention program that helps prevent the cycle of abuse from ever beginning. HOPES assists parents in at-risk situations to develop knowledge critical to strengthening parenting skills and helping their children thrive. Your support of LSI ensures that we are able to continue to battle child abuse and help children and families throughout the state.
