Preschool is offered for families who do not attend childcare.  The preschool programs are a natural part of our high-quality learning programs at Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc. However, to accommodate the needs of children not attending our center for childcare, we have designated specific days of the week and times of day as “preschool time.”  The schedules are as follows:

Yellow Fish- Three-year-olds       Tuesday and Thursday                9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Red Fish- 4/5-year-olds                Monday, Wednesday, & Friday    9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Blue Fish- 4/5-year-olds               Monday, Wednesday, & Friday    12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Preschool is a place where young children have the opportunity to interact with other children, feel safe away from home, learn and have fun!  Working “hands on” with a variety of materials and participating in activities designed especially for young children helps develop early literacy (reading, writing, speaking and listening), math, science, art, music and social skills.

School-Age Program (School Year) offers care for children before and after school.  Before school care is offered at our 1313 Maynard Way site.  After school care is offered at our 1313 Maynard Way site for Kindergartners and First Graders and at Ekstrand Elementary School for Second Graders through Fifth Graders.  The school district provides transportation to and from school.  This program gives your school-age child a safe place to go while you work.  Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc. offers fun-filled activities to help them unwind after a full day of school.  There are quiet times when children can read and work on homework.  Our friendly teachers are able to assist them with their studies.

School-Age Program (Summer) offers children activities designed for children who have completed Kindergarten until the start of Sixth Grade.  Included in this program is swimming, field trips, outdoor activities, arts and craft.

Outdoor play (included in all of our programs) provides “fresh air” and exercise that are a very important part of a child’s health and well being.  Weather permitting, (bring boots and snow pants when appropriate) we plan the day’s activities to include outdoor play.  Children have the opportunity to swing, slide, climb, play in the sand, play games and socialize with their friends.  Please send your child in clothes that they are able to move freely in and shoes that they can run and play in.

Field Trips
are a fun way for children to learn about their community.  Your child will have opportunities to travel with their classmates on enjoyable field trips.  Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc. requires your permission to have your child accompany us on any excursion.  Occasionally, there will be a fee related to the trip to cover the cost of transportation or admittance to the event.  We will notify you in advance of any planned field trips and we will share all of the details of our outing.  We welcome parents to join in on the fun!

We will be asking parents if they would like to join us and if anyone has a vehicle he/she could drive to provide transportation for children.  Parents of Kids’ Business kids who are licensed, insured and whose vehicle is equipped with a seat belt for every child, will provide transportation. These parent volunteers make these trips possible.

Birthdays are very special for children and we want to help each child celebrate his/her special day.  If you would like to bring treats to share with your child’s class, you may do so.  We just ask that you let your child’s teacher know in advance so he/she can plan accordingly.

Food from home must be pre-approved by your child’s teacher as a classroom treat.  Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc. asks that any food brought from home be prepackaged or purchased from a bakery.  Homemade snacks are not allowed.  This is to insure the health and safety of all our children.  School-age children are welcome to pack a sack lunch as long as it meets the requirement of the Child and Adult Care Food Program.  If your child’s lunch does not meet the requirements, it will be supplemented by the Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc. menu.

Child and Adult Care Food Program is a government program that supplements the meals we provide to our children. This program gives us nutritional guidelines that we must follow when planning meals and requires that Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc. be open for periodic inspection to ensure we are following the established standards.  You will be asked to complete an application for this program upon enrollment and every year thereafter that your child attends Kids’ Business of DeWitt, Inc.  Eligibility for participation is determined based on each family’s financial situation.

Meals and snacks are served on a regular schedule each day.  Breakfast is served from 7:00 AM till 8:00 AM, morning snack is served at 9:30 AM, lunch is served at 11:30 AM and afternoon snack is served between 2:30 and 3:30 PM.

Rest and Naptimes are scheduled to balance your child’s day and usually last from 1 ½  - 2 hours in the afternoon.  A cot is provided for your child.  Your child’s bedding will be sent home at the end of each week to be laundered.  If your child has “outgrown” a naptime, we will allow an opportunity to read books or do “quiet” independent activities.

Intake Policy requires that all enrollment forms must be completed prior to your child attending Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc.  You will also be required to pay the registration fee for the programs your child will be attending.

Enrollment Forms are required for any child attending Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc. including a current Medical Exam and updated Immunization Record.  Another required form is the Parental Emergency Medical Release.  This form gives Kids' Business of DeWitt, Inc. permission to care for your child in case of an emergency.  In addition, it provides space for you to identify whom we are to contact if you are not available and who is allowed to pick up your child.  We also need a copy of any custody restrictions or visitation orders attached to this form.  The Enrollment Information form gives our teachers information about your child to help them to better serve their needs.  The last form you are required to complete is a Field Trip permission and Photo Release.  Please be sure to complete all forms accurately and to update any of the information as needed.  You will be required to update these forms annually in accordance with state licensing.
