Daylight Savings Time ends: Sun Nov 1st.

Coffee and Rolls will be served at Parish Center on Sun. Nov 1st after 8:AM Mass.

N.E. Deanery Retreat for Catholic Women will be held today, Nov 1st at the Parish Center. Holy hour is from 1pm – 2pm. Program “The Eucharist” is from 2:30 – 4 pm.

All Souls Prayer Service: Nov. 1st, 5 pm – Soup Supper to follow at the Parish Center.

The Book of Remembrance will be available for names this weekend. These names will be remembered at All Souls Masses.

Your Invited: Anointing Mass, Nov 4, - 9am Holy Family Catholic Church. This sacrament is being offered to anyone who is spiritually, emotionally or physically ill or elderly, who wish to be anointed. After mass, you are invited to share coffee and cookies in Corrigan Hall with Catholic School students.

We are happy to welcome Sarah Allen as the new secretary for Holy Family Parrish Office Hours remain the same: 8:00-1:00pm Mon – Fri. We will accommodate other times upon arrangements. A special thanks to Vicky Merwald for serving us so well in the past.

School News
HOPE Certificates will be sold after all masses the weekend of Nov. 14th & 15th.


The Msgr. Lafferty Foundation was able to give 30 scholarships to ECS students last year due to your generous gifts, our goal this year is $27,896.00. Your donation comes with a state tax credit of 65% and possibly a federal tax credit. Forms are available at the back of church or at the school or parish offices. Contact Jean Hyslop or Fr. Currans for information.

Religious Education – Classes will resume this week, Nov 4, grades K-8
J.A.M Nov 1st 6 – 7pm

“A Quick Journey Through the Bible”. This is an 8 week introduction into the Timeline Learning System, giving the learner a brief overview of salvation history. Classes are being offered:
Wed. evenings 6:30 – 7:30 pm beginning Nov 11, or
Thur. mornings 8:30 – 9:30am beginning Nov 12, or
Sun. evenings 6 – 7 pm beginning Nov 15 ( added class) 4 wks now & 4 wks in Jan
Cost $20.00 – Register by November 4 for us to order materials on time

 

Food Pantry for Upper Des Moines. We will be collecting canned foods, paper products here at church, during the month of November.

World Community Day – (Palo Alto County Church Women’s United) Friday Nov 6 – 9:30am @ Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church, West Bend, Ia. Please bring your Least Coin Offerings.

Marie Shea Scholarship: Parish Council has worked out details for a $1,000.00 scholarship to a senior who has attended Emmetsburg Catholic School and will be going to a 2 or 4 yr college or trade school. Applications will be available Feb 1, 2010 and turned in by April 1, 2010. Senior must be catholic, involved in Parish and Youth Programs.

Open House Gift Gathering: will be held Nov 13th from 4 – 6:30pm at the home of Roger and Ellen Picray, 1501 Broadway. This is a collecting of gifts for our silent auction for the ECS Auction Fest. Everyone is welcome.
