Biography of Pastor Jean Rabary

I joined the pastoral staff at First Lutheran of Manchester in August, 2001, coming from Earlville, Iowa, where I ministered at Immanuel Lutheran for five years

Originally, I was born, raised, and educated in Madagascar. I received my B.A. in Economics from the University of Madagascar, where I also met my wife Angeline. The Lord blessed me with a full scholarship from the Lutheran World Federation, which allowed me to study at Southern Illinois University where I earned my M.A. in Telecommunications.

The Lord directed my path toward the ordained ministry after our son, Jonathan, was diagnosed with Charge Syndrome at birth. I went to Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, where I received my Master of Divinity in Theology.

In 2003, the Lord gave me the opportunity to deepen my theological knowledge and I went to the University of Dubuque, School Of Theology, where I earned my Doctor of Ministry in 2006. I wrote my project-dissertation on “Spiritual Growth through Spiritual Formation Group.” I have an ongoing interest in exploring the spiritual lives and practices of the Saints in the Christian Tradition.

Recently, the Lord blessed my whole family with U.S. Citizenship through naturalization. Now, wife Angeline, daughter Lalaina, and Pr. Jean have become U.S. citizens. We continue to serve the Lord with the holy family at First Lutheran of Manchester, Iowa.
