About Chris:
The first thing you need to know is I LOVE music. I have no true favorite genre. I still have the first album I ever purchased (yes I am old enough that it was an album not a CD) Peter Frampton- I'm In You. I listen to everything from today's hits, country, rock metal, rap, hip-hop, classical you name it. Starting a disk jockey service was a natural fit and a way to share music with others. I have a fairly large collection especially when you consider I have been working on it for over 25 years.
To me music is a way to express myself. As a teenager I picked up the guitar and actually wrote some of my own stuff. Was it hit material - no, but it was a way for me to express myself. I still mess around with creating music, yet now it is in the electronic form mixing beats and samples.
I have always had a creative touch and spent much of my younger years living in the right side of my brain. From art work to poetry. I can gladly state I passed some of the creativity onto my children.
I am an empathetic person. I feel this gift suites both the DJ Service and computer work well as it allows me to understand my customers wants and needs. It helps me to read a dance crowd and keep the dance floor full. My past clients will attest to this.
The older I got the more everyday living took me from my "right" brain into the "left" half. Starting the DJ business allowed me to get the creative juices flowing again. I forgot how much I missed it.
I went to Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids for the computer training. I was in the LAN Management program. Honestly I have only been interested in computers for the last 10 years. I do enjoy working on both the hardware and software, yet music on the computer is still what I love. Creating videos, web pages, mix-music is also a fun way for me to fill my "Free Time".
I am a people person. In one of my previous jobs I was a buyer for a large regional wholesaler here in Iowa. Three years working in an office was enough for me. I need to be out meeting people, interacting with people face to face not over the phone or via computer. So my day job is a sales representative for a large corporation based on the East Coast. I cover East Central Iowa. I enjoy the interaction with customers, yet the in state traveling/living out of a suitcase can get to be tiresome.
I tend to be a workaholic and a perfectionist. This would attest for my dedication to my day job, providing a computer service, and running a DJ Service. I had also been a volunteer firefighter as well as a city council member. I am no longer either of the latter two. I honestly miss the firefighting though. Additionally I do much of the remodeling and repair work at home. Everything from wiring, plumbing, framing walls, finishing work and recently applying siding. I suppose you could call me a jack of many trades.
When you hire me for either the DJ Service or computer work rest assured your needs are my focus. After all you are hiring me for my expertise as well as who I am. On average I spend around 12 hours prep work for my DJ performances as well as an average of 12+ hours the day of the performance.
