Our church is a very active church with a number of programs going.
We are especially proud of the young people's program.
 

Dorothy Rathbun

 She is active in the American Baptist Women's program of the church.  She also has help lead a quilting program in the church.  The quilts are donated to families in the county who has suffered the loss of their personal things as a results of fire.  She has organized a number of women in the church to sew one or two quilt blocks each month during the winter.  Then she and several others sew the blocks together into a quilt and a group of women meet and tie the quilts to complete them.

Bill Rathbun

Since coming to the church in 1992 Bill has served in several different positions.  He no longer does supply preaching (when pastors are gone for some reason) because of complications from the polio he had as a young man.  He has served around the area and serves on Region Committees of our denomination.  He was active in raising funds for a new building at one of our denominational camps near Ottumwa, about 30 miles from Fairfield.

Our faith in Jesus Christ is very important to us.  We went through a number of trials as our  daughter-in-law fought the dreaded cancer. Those years has been a tough battle but we have seen some great medical victories come.  Recently she had her five year check up with a good report of no cancer.  We deeply believe this is the answer to prayer.  However, it is not the medical victories that have meant the most to us, as important as these were, for many people beside ourselves go through these kinds of experiences.  What has sustained us through these times is our knowledge of and the sense of God's presence with us in all of our struggles.  We know we have God's presence and love with us at all times.  Jesus died to make that possible and He is the power that sustains us in all of life's struggles.  Even in the midst of trials, life in Christ is beautiful!!!
