Simply defined, spyware is additional code delivered with data you have requested over the Internet that installs or integrates with your system. This code could possibly perform operations you have not requested or authorized. This usually means collecting and disseminating information to the creator or other parties. This data can track your surfing habits, the programs you use, and shopping preferences. It could also perform malicious acts by hijacking your browser's homepage, alter important system files, and abuse your Iowa Telecom Internet connection by passing this information to third parties.
The undesireable effects of this should be obvious to anyone.
