Approval of
January 10, 2008
minutes: David asked to amend the
minutes to state that the church doors have not yet been ordered.
Motion for approval by Donnie, seconded by Fred
II.
Father asked that the Pastor’s Report be moved up on the agenda.
a.
The invitation for the 150th celebration has been sent to the
Archbishop.
Due to the fact that he has a conflict that day he has asked if the date
can
be changed. Since most things have already
been finalized and
printed for June 28th it was decided to leave at that date.
b. He
reported that the eaves of the hall need to be replaced and dirt
hauled in as water is seeping into the kitchen.
The eaves on the
southeast corner of the church also need to be repaired.
Donnie will
get two estimates for this project.
c.
Father then handed out a letter he had prepared for the council stating
that he will be going on sabbatical from the end of May through early
July. He will be returning to Notre
Dame only sometime in July.
St. Bridget’s will be closing in the near future.
During his absence
the Archdiocese will be assigning a priest to cover the duties at
Notre Dame & St. Bridget’s. This
priest will work with St. Bridget’s
through the steps involved in closing a parish.
The new priest will
then give us a timeline and details of the closing, such as if we will
be allowed to be an oratory, etc. Father
will be speaking about this
situation at mass this coming Sunday and all parish members will
be receiving a copy of his letter with these minutes.
III.
150th Anniversary – Scott showed the council a sample of the
anniversary
plates that will be sold at the celebration.
IV.
Parish Council Election – Due to the closing of the church it was
decided to keep the current council members through this process.
V.
It was also decided to table the church door purchase under the
circumstances.
VI.
The Kenny White family submitted a 3 year contract for mowing
and lawn care. Also, because of the
church closure situation it was
decided to ask them to submit a contract for one year.
The council thanks Father for his time and work over the past
three years and
wishes
him well.
The meeting was then adjourned.
Respectfully
submitted,
Patty
Marlow
Acting
Secretary
