Notre Dame Family Circles of  Faith Meeting Minutes

May 21, 2008

Anne Ott called the meeting to order and led the group in prayer.  Officers present:  Anne Ott and Terry Duerre.

The minutes of the March 17, 2008 meeting were read.  “I make a motion to approve the minutes” was made by Mary Ann Billmyer, seconded by Bootie Kapler.  Motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report was reviewed.  The balance in the account as of 4/31/08:  $18,995.09.  “I make a motion to approve the treasurer’s report” was made by Joyce Becker, seconded by Doris Hubka.  Motion carried.

Bernice Minear reported on Sewing Circle.  The group has donated 4 children’s quilts to the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester , MN . They also tie large quilts. Bernice also reported on sewing diapers for layettes for the ACCW.  She requested donations of items for layettes.  These may be purchased at garage sales and given to Bernice.  Items needed (in good condition and in small infant size):  onesies, sleepers, safety pins, caps, sweaters, and receiving blankets.  Bernice also has several people helping her make Baptismal Bibs for our parish.  Bernice submitted bills for the materials for the above activities.

Carol Foley reported on the St. Catherine’s pork loin dinner.  It worked well in the Heritage Events Center .

A question was raised about the number of 100 cup coffee pots in the cupboard.  If we do not need them all we could sell them.  The VFW may be interested in purchasing one or two.  Anne Ott will check into this.

H & H came and replaced a part in the Bunn coffee maker.

There are a lot of dishes left from donations for funeral dinners and projects.  They will be donated to Spectrum if not picked up soon.

The parish is working with the school to compile a cookbook to commemorate the 150 years of Catholic presence in Cresco and 125 years of Catholic education in Cresco.  Volunteers will be needed to compile the information.  The cookbooks will be for sale in September.

Sign up sheets have been mailed for the food stand at the Howard County Fair.  Thanks to all who have volunteered to be chair people for the numerous committees.  Several attending the meeting noted they had not received their sign up sheet.  Extra sheets will be placed at the entrances of the church for those who did not receive a sheet.  It would be appreciated if everyone would fill out their sheet and volunteer to help with this project.

Terry Duerre read a letter from Karla Klimesh offering to give a presentation on Hospice Care, Death and Dying and the Grieving Process at one of our meetings.  Anne Ott will contact Karla about giving a presentation at our Dec. 15 meeting/potluck.

The Mass of Thanksgiving and potluck for the success of our Capital Campaign was very well attended.

The next funeral dinner committee is #2 and Saturday is #1.

The next meeting will be held on Aug. 18.

“I make a motion to adjourn the meeting” was made by Connie Kepros, seconded by Bootie Kapler.  Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,
