Want to Help Thousands of Families While Saving Money?  Would you be willing to assist a current or potential Catholic school student with their educational expenses while significantly reducing your 2008 Iowa income taxes?  If you file an Iowa state income tax return you can contribute to the Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future School Tuition Organization and receive a 65% tax credit.  That means for every $100 you donate, you receive an Iowa income tax credit of $65, plus the entire amount of the gift is eligible for federal deductibility.  The best part is that all funds raised are awarded to students who qualify for tuition assistance at all Archdiocesan Catholic schools.  No student should be denied a Catholic education because of the inability to pay.  Please consider using this incredible opportunity to make a difference in a child’s future.  Visit www.arch.pvt.k12.ia.us or call 563 556-2580 ext. 256 for more information or to make your contribution.  Make a difference for you and the families who wish a Catholic Education.

                                  The Year of St. Paul
                         June 28, 2008—June 29, 2009

Indulgences
The Holy Father has decreed that during the Pauline Year the Christian faithful may benefit from a plenary indulgence for themselves and for the deceased by fulfilling the required conditions.

-A person takes part in prayer at a place of worship named for St. Paul or other places designated by Archbishop Hanus.
-The prayer on this holy visit must invoke the Blessed Mother, St. Paul and St. Peter and include the Our Father, the Creed and is said for the Pope’s intentions.
-About 20 days before or after the visit the faithful must go to sacramental confession and receive Holy Communion.
-All must be done in a spirit of total detachment from any inclination to sin.
This indulgence is available for the whole of the Pauline Year.
Those prevented by illness or another legitimate cause may obtain the indulgence if they spiritually join in a Jubilee celebration in honor of St. Paul, offering their prayers and sufferings to God for Christian unity.

Prayer

Almighty God,
Your servant, Paul,
journeyed throughout the Roman Empire
and boldly preached the Gospel
with a deep faith, a steadfast hope,
and a burning love for our Lord.
Help us to become apostles
serving the Church with a pure heart
and witnessing to her truth and beauty
even in the darkness of our days.
Like Paul, may we keep you at the center of our lives.
Renew us with your grace,
that we who celebrate this Jubilee
may proclaim good news in word and deed
for the unity of all Christians.
We ask this through your son Jesus Christ
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit
for every and ever.  Amen.
